Father Mark G. Gadoury was appointed as the State Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus Rhode Island Council, effective November 1, 2022. His appointment by Bishop Thomas J. Tobin came at the request of the State Deputy, David G. Bebyn, highlighting Fr. Gadoury's youthful energy and commitment to spiritual leadership. Fr. Gadoury succeeded Father Joseph Paquette, who retired after nearly two decades of dedicated service (The Rhode Island Catholic) (Diocese of Providence, Rhode Island). Fr. Gadoury was ordained a priest on June 4, 2022, at the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul in Providence. His family attended the ordination ceremony, including his mother, Cheryll Gadoury, and his two elder sisters. The event was celebrated with great joy and was marked by the powerful music of the Gregorian Concert Choir (The Rhode Island Catholic). Born and raised in Cumberland, Rhode Island, Fr. Gadoury is a lifelong member of Saint Joan of Arc Parish on Mendon Road. He received his early education at Our Lady of Victory School in Woonsocket and Good Shepherd School, and he graduated from Cumberland High School. Fr. Gadoury then earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Rhode Island in 2014. Fr. Gadoury felt the call to the priesthood after some life events and began his seminary studies in the fall of 2016 at Our Lady of Providence Seminary, where he completed 2 years of philosophical studies at Providence College. He completed his theological studies at St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, MA, earning a Master's in Divinity and a Bachelor in Sacred Theology. In addition to his role as State Chaplain, Fr. Gadoury has served as the associate pastor at both St. Luke’s and Holy Angels parishes in Barrington, Rhode Island. His dedication to the Church and community is evident through his pastoral duties and his enthusiastic involvement with the Knights of Columbus. He is particularly passionate about evangelization and reaching out to the faithful. On July 1, 2024, Fr. Gadoury was named pastor of St. Joseph Church in Woonsocket, RI, after completing his term as associate pastor at St. Luke’s and Holy Angels parishes. Fr. Gadoury is excited to continue the great work of his predecessor and to further the mission of the Knights of Columbus. His spirituality, commitment to service, and ability to inspire others make him a valuable leader for the Knights and the broader Catholic community in Rhode Island.
